If you’ve got food allergies or dietary restrictions, ordering pizza can feel like a gamble. We get it. Here’s a straightforward guide to what’s in Godfather’s Pizza — the major allergens, the ingredients you should know about, and what to order (and what to avoid) based on your dietary needs.
Major Allergens in Godfather’s Pizza
Our menu contains the following major allergens. If you have a severe allergy, please read the full details below and call us at (210) 750-2222 before ordering so we can help you navigate the menu safely.
| Allergen | Present In | Can You Avoid It? |
|---|---|---|
| Wheat / Gluten | All standard crusts (Original, Golden, Thin, Mozza-Loaded) | Gluten-Free crust available (10″ only) — see note below |
| Dairy / Milk | All cheeses (mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan, Romano), Golden crust (butter), Ranch sauce | Difficult — cheese-free pizza possible but cross-contact likely |
| Soy | Crust (soybean oil in dough), some sauces | Present in nearly all items — hard to avoid completely |
| Eggs | Ranch dressing/sauce, some dessert items | Avoidable — skip Ranch-based pizzas and dressings |
| Tree Nuts / Peanuts | Not a standard ingredient — but our kitchen is not nut-free | Low risk but cross-contact possible |
Gluten-Free Options
We offer a Gluten-Free crust in a 10-inch size. It’s a legitimate pizza — not a sad cracker with sauce on it — and you can top it with any of our toppings and sauces.
Here’s what you need to know: our Gluten-Free crust is prepared and baked in the same kitchen as our wheat-based crusts. It is topped on shared surfaces and baked in the same ovens. This means it is not safe for people with celiac disease or anyone who cannot tolerate any gluten cross-contact.
For people with gluten sensitivity (not celiac) who can tolerate trace amounts, our GF crust is a solid option. It’s available at our San Antonio location — call ahead to confirm availability on your order day.
Dairy-Free and Vegan Options
This is the tough one for pizza. Cheese is on almost everything we make, and our Golden crust is baked in butter. Here’s what you can do.
You can order a pizza with no cheese — our Signature Sauce, Taco Sauce, BBQ Sauce, and Buffalo Sauce do not contain dairy. Load up on veggie toppings and meat toppings for flavor without cheese. It’s not a traditional pizza experience, but some customers prefer it.
For fully vegan orders: our standard crusts (Original and Thin) do not contain dairy in the dough itself — but Golden crust does (butter). Pair Original or Thin crust with a non-dairy sauce and veggie toppings for the closest vegan-friendly option. Be aware that cross-contact with dairy is unavoidable in our kitchen.
What’s in the Crust?
The crust is the foundation of every pizza, so here’s what goes into each one. Full crust comparison at our crust options page.
Original Crust: Enriched wheat flour (wheat flour, malted barley flour, niacin, reduced iron, thiamine, riboflavin, folic acid), water, yeast, soybean oil, salt, sugar. The thick, chewy classic.
Golden Crust: Same base dough as Original, baked in a pan with butter. Contains dairy (butter) in addition to wheat and soy. The buttery, crispy-bottom option.
Thin Crust: Similar wheat-based dough, rolled thinner. Contains wheat and soy. Lighter option with about 25% fewer calories than Original.
Gluten-Free Crust: Rice flour-based. Still contains soy. Does NOT contain wheat — but is prepared in a shared kitchen (see gluten-free section above).
Ordering by Dietary Need
Low-carb / Keto: Order Thin crust with meat toppings and light cheese. A medium Thin crust slice runs about 170 calories for cheese — fewer carbs than Original or Golden. You can also skip the crust entirely and order wings (bone-in or boneless, $16.49–$26.49) with a side salad.
High-protein: The All-Meat Combo on Original crust is protein-heavy — six meats stacked on one pizza. Pair with a Chicken BLT Salad ($10.99) for extra protein without more bread. See our meat lover’s guide for the full lineup.
Vegetarian: The Veggie pizza (black olives, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, tomatoes, mozzarella) is fully vegetarian. Build Your Own with any combination of veggie toppings and your choice of sauce. Our full menu shows all available toppings.
Watching sodium: Pizza is inherently high in sodium — cheese, sauce, and cured meats all contribute. Your best option is a Build Your Own with light cheese, Signature Sauce, and fresh veggie toppings. Avoid the All-Meat Combo and Super Combo, which are the highest-sodium items on the menu.
Watching calories: Thin crust reduces calories by about 25% per slice. A medium Thin crust cheese pizza is roughly 170 calories per slice. Golden crust is actually about 15% fewer calories than Original despite the butter — the dough volume is smaller. Full calorie data at our nutrition page.
How to Order Safely with Allergies
If you have food allergies, here’s the best way to order from us.
Call first. Call (210) 750-2222 and tell us about your allergy before you order. We can walk you through the menu and flag any items that contain your allergen. Our team can take extra precautions on your order — fresh gloves, clean surfaces, separate prep — if you let us know ahead of time.
Keep it simple. The more complex the order, the higher the cross-contact risk. A simple Build Your Own with 2–3 toppings is easier to prepare safely than a loaded specialty pizza.
Ask about sauces. Our Signature Sauce (tomato-based) is the safest bet for most allergens. Ranch-based sauces contain dairy and eggs. BBQ and Buffalo sauces are generally dairy-free but check with us on specific ingredients.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Godfather’s Pizza have gluten-free crust?
Yes — we offer a 10-inch Gluten-Free crust. However, it’s prepared in a shared kitchen with wheat products, so it is not safe for people with celiac disease. It’s suitable for people with gluten sensitivity who can tolerate trace amounts of cross-contact.
Is Godfather’s Pizza safe for someone with a dairy allergy?
Dairy is in all our cheeses, Golden crust (butter), and Ranch-based sauces. You can order a cheese-free pizza on Original or Thin crust with a non-dairy sauce, but cross-contact with dairy is unavoidable in our kitchen. Not recommended for severe dairy allergies.
Does Godfather’s Pizza contain nuts?
Nuts are not a standard ingredient in any of our menu items. However, our kitchen is not a nut-free facility, so cross-contact is possible. If you have a severe nut allergy, please call us before ordering.
What’s the lowest-calorie option at Godfather’s?
Thin crust with light cheese and veggie toppings is the lowest-calorie pizza option — about 170 calories per medium slice for cheese. Wings with a side salad (no pizza) is another low-carb option. Our nutrition page has full calorie breakdowns by crust and topping.
