The Taco Pie isn’t pizza and it isn’t a taco. It’s the thing Godfather’s San Antonio is known for — the pizza that people drive across town for, the one that made you look us up in the first place. Seasoned beef, taco sauce, cheddar, and fresh lettuce and tomatoes on our crust. Once you have it, the regular menu feels incomplete without it. Our Taco Pie is especially popular for Cinco de Mayo celebrations in San Antonio.
What’s on the Taco Pie
Here’s the full build: taco sauce on the base (no Signature Sauce here — taco sauce only), seasoned beef, onions, cheddar and mozzarella, and extra cheddar baked in. Then, after it comes out of the oven, fresh lettuce and tomatoes go on top.
That last part is the key. The lettuce and tomatoes go on cold. You get a hot, melted-cheese-and-beef pizza base under crisp, cool toppings — same as an actual taco, just on crust instead of a shell. It’s not a gimmick. It’s the reason this pizza works.
Sizes run mini through large: $13.99–$34.50. The large is the move for a group. Check out the crust options to decide how you want the base. And if you want an excuse to eat pie guilt-free, National Pie Day on January 23 is your annual green light — more on that below.

Taco Pie vs. Super Taco — Which One’s Right for You?
We have two taco pizzas. The Taco Pie is the original. The Super Taco is the upgraded version in our Super Specialty tier. Here’s how they compare side by side:
| Taco Pie | Super Taco | |
|---|---|---|
| Sauce | Taco Sauce | Taco Sauce |
| Beef | Yes | Yes |
| Onions | Yes | Yes |
| Lettuce & Tomatoes | Yes (fresh, after baking) | Yes (fresh, after baking) |
| Cheddar & Mozzarella | Yes + Extra Cheddar | Yes + Extra Cheddar |
| Black Olives | No | Yes |
| Sour Cream | No | Yes |
| Taco Packet per Slice | No | Yes (1 per slice) |
| Price Range | $13.99–$34.50 | $15.99–$37.75 |
The original Taco Pie is the cleaner pizza. The beef, cheese, and fresh toppings are the whole story — nothing competing with them. The Super Taco is for people who want to go further. The sour cream adds richness, the black olives add a little brine, and a taco packet per slice means you can season to your taste at the table. Both are good. It depends on whether you want the pure version or the loaded version.
You can add a sour cream packet ($0.99) to the regular Taco Pie if you want the sour cream without committing to the full Super Taco build. That’s a move worth knowing about.
What Crust Works Best for the Taco Pie?
The Taco Pie works on any of our crusts, but Original is where it shines. The thick, chewy base holds up under the beef and wet toppings without going soggy. When you bite through the fresh lettuce and tomatoes into hot beef and melted cheddar, the Original crust gives you something substantial underneath it all. That’s the full Taco Pie experience.
Thin crust is the alternative if you want a lighter version. The crunch adds a contrast of its own — beef and cheddar over crispy crust, lettuce and tomatoes on top. It’s a different eating experience but it works. The Golden crust (pan-baked, buttery bottom) is a less common choice here but not a bad one if you’re a Golden crust loyalist.
Whatever crust you pick — do not skip the extra cheddar. It’s already on the Taco Pie as built, but if you’re customizing, keep it. The cheddar-to-mozzarella combination is what makes the cheese layer on this pizza different from everything else on the menu. Our full breakdown of crust options can help if you’re deciding between Original and Thin.
How to Order the Taco Pie
Order it through our online ordering system or call us at (210) 750-2222. Here’s what to decide before you order:
Size: Mini, Small, Medium, or Large. The Large feeds 3–4 people on its own. If you’re adding sides or wings, a Medium is usually enough for two people.
Crust: Original for the classic build. Thin if you want something lighter and crispier. Mozzarella Loaded if you want stuffed-crust mozzarella added to the edge — available in Medium and Large only.
Add-ons: Sour cream packets are $0.99 and pair perfectly with the Taco Pie. Potato wedges are a natural side — they fill out the meal without competing with the taco flavors. See our full full menu for everything available to pair with it.
If you’re ordering for more than four people, look at the feast packages — they let you add a second pizza at a deal price. If you’re ordering for an event or a group of ten or more, our catering packages are built for that. The Taco Pie is one of our most-requested catering pizzas. It’s also the kind of pizza that always gets people talking at a party.
First time ordering the Taco Pie? Get a Large on Original crust. Add a sour cream packet. Order a side of potato wedges. That’s the full experience.
Why the Taco Pie Is What Makes Us Different
There’s a reason it’s the first thing people mention when they talk about Godfather’s San Antonio. It’s not just a novelty item — it’s the pizza that comes back with us after 35 years away because people never stopped asking for it. San Antonio remembers the Taco Pie. That’s not an accident. Read about what makes us different if you want the full story behind why we do what we do.
If you want to try making it yourself, we have a guide for that too: make it at home. Fair warning — it’s not quite the same. The original is always going to be better than the copy, and we say that knowing you might actually pull it off. But if it makes you want the real thing more, we’re good with that.
This is also one of our top 5 pizzas — ranked first, not because we’re biased (okay, maybe a little), but because it’s genuinely the pizza that sets us apart from every other pizza place in San Antonio.
What is Godfather’s Taco Pie?
The Taco Pie is a specialty pizza with taco sauce as the base, seasoned beef, onions, cheddar and mozzarella (with extra cheddar), and fresh lettuce and tomatoes added after baking. It eats like a taco on pizza crust. Starts at $13.99 for a mini, $34.50 for a large.
What’s the difference between the Taco Pie and the Super Taco?
The Taco Pie is the original build — beef, taco sauce, cheddar, and fresh toppings. The Super Taco adds black olives, sour cream, and comes with one taco packet per slice. It’s in the Super Specialty tier at $15.99–$37.75. The original Taco Pie is $13.99–$34.50.
What crust should I get with the Taco Pie?
Original crust is our recommendation. It’s thick and sturdy enough to hold the beef and fresh toppings without going soggy. Thin crust works if you want something lighter and crispier — the crunch pairs well with the taco toppings. Both are solid choices.
Can I add sour cream to the Taco Pie?
Yes. Sour cream packets are available for $0.99 each and pair perfectly with the Taco Pie. If you want sour cream fully integrated into the pizza, order the Super Taco — sour cream is part of that build. Either way, it’s worth having on the table.
Is the Taco Pie available for catering orders?
Absolutely. It’s one of our most-requested catering pizzas. Call us at (210) 750-2222 to set up a catering order and we’ll work out how many pies you need for your event. The Taco Pie is always a hit with people who’ve never had it before.
