Nonprofits, charities, and community organizations do important work on tight budgets. Food shouldn’t be the thing that blows the line item — and with pizza, it doesn’t have to be. If you’re feeding volunteers, event attendees, or staff at a nonprofit event in San Antonio, here’s how to make it work without overspending.
We’re a Veteran-Owned business in San Antonio, and we understand community service from the inside. Feeding people who show up to give their time and effort is one of the most direct ways to say thank you. Pizza does that efficiently — it’s a crowd-pleaser, it’s scalable, and it doesn’t require cleanup infrastructure that most nonprofits don’t have.
Why Pizza Works for Nonprofit Events
Nonprofit events have unpredictable headcounts. Volunteer turnout varies. Attendees RSVP and don’t show, or don’t RSVP and do. Pizza handles this better than most catering options — you can add pies if the crowd is bigger than expected, and leftovers are never wasted. Try doing that with a catered buffet.
Pizza is also flexible enough to work as both a volunteer appreciation meal and a community event feed. A cleanup crew of 15 and a fundraiser gala of 150 have the same basic food need: something hot, filling, and universally liked. Our catering page covers how we handle both scales.
Budget-Conscious Ordering for Nonprofits
The Pizza Pack — 4 large pizzas for $75 — is the most cost-effective option for nonprofit events. For a volunteer appreciation lunch of 30 people, three packs ($225) covers it cleanly. That’s $7.50 per person, which is hard to beat for a catered meal that people actually want.
If your organization runs events regularly — monthly volunteer dinners, quarterly fundraisers, regular community meetings — see our corporate account setup. It simplifies the ordering process and keeps records clean for expense reporting. The account works for nonprofits exactly the same way it works for businesses.
Feeding Volunteers vs. Feeding Event Attendees
These are different scenarios. Volunteers doing physical work (cleanup, construction, event setup) are hungry and need volume. Plan 3 slices per volunteer minimum. Event attendees at a community gathering eat less — 2 slices average. Size your order based on which scenario you’re running.
For organizations that work with Military Veterans — VSOs, VFW chapters, American Legion posts, veteran service nonprofits — we have a particular interest in getting your event right. We’ve been part of the San Antonio Military community since we opened. See our veteran-owned restaurant page for more on what that means to us.
Getting the Order Right
Call (210) 750-2222 at least 24 hours before your event. Tell us the headcount, the type of event, your pickup or delivery preference, and your budget ceiling. We’ll help you build the most efficient order for what you’re trying to accomplish. For larger events over 50 people, see our 50-person catering guide for the exact numbers.
Volunteer appreciation formula: 3 slices per volunteer × headcount ÷ 8 = large pizzas needed. Budget $75 per 4-large-pizza pack and you’re in the right zone.
Do you offer nonprofit discounts?
Our Pizza Pack pricing is the best volume deal we offer and it applies to all orders including nonprofit events. Call and tell us about your organization — we’ll work with you on the order to make it as cost-effective as possible.
Can we get a receipt for expense reporting?
Yes. We can provide a receipt for any order. If your organization needs specific documentation for expense reporting, let us know when you call and we’ll make sure you have what you need.
What if our volunteer count changes closer to the event?
Call us as soon as you know the updated headcount. We can usually adjust an order up to a few hours before, depending on the size change. Scaling down is harder, so err on the side of ordering a bit more rather than less.
