Godfather’s Humble Pie vs. Classic Combo Pizza

Dec 21, 2025 | Pizza

godfather pizza golden crust classic combo san antonio

Humble Pie and Classic Combo are two of our best specialty pizzas — and they’re more different than you’d think. Both are $13.99–$34.50 depending on size. Both are loaded. But the toppings tell a completely different story. Here’s how to pick the right one for tonight. Read the full Classic Combo review to see why this pie keeps people coming back. Can’t decide? The Humble Pie vs classic pepperoni breakdown helps you pick.

The Two Pizzas at a Glance

Let’s put them side by side so you can see exactly what you’re choosing between:

Humble Pie Classic Combo
Sauce Signature Sauce Signature Sauce
Meat Pepperoni, Italian Sausage Pepperoni, Beef, Sausage
Veggies Green Peppers, Onions Black Olives, Mushrooms, Onions
Cheese Mozzarella Mozzarella
Sizes Mini, Small, Medium, Large Mini, Small, Medium, Large
Price Range $13.99–$34.50 $13.99–$34.50

Same price, same size options, same sauce and cheese base. The difference is in the meat and the vegetables — and that difference matters a lot when it comes to flavor.

First: What They Have in Common

Before we get into the differences, here’s what both pizzas share. Both use our Signature Sauce — not a generic tomato sauce, but the same sauce we’ve been making since we came back to San Antonio. Both are finished with Mozzarella. Both are available in every size we carry: mini, small, medium, and large. And both price out at $13.99 for a mini up to $34.50 for a large — same as every other specialty pizza on our menu.

That means the decision comes down entirely to what toppings you want. Which is actually a nice problem to have.

What Makes the Humble Pie Stand Out

The Humble Pie is built around Italian Sausage and Green Peppers. That combination gives it a slightly sweeter, more herby flavor profile compared to a standard pepperoni pizza. The green peppers add crunch and brightness. The Italian Sausage is more fragrant than plain sausage — there’s fennel in there, which is what gives Italian sausage that distinct flavor.

If you like a pizza that tastes cleaner and more veggie-forward without being a veggie pizza, the Humble Pie is your pick. It’s not shy on meat, but the green peppers and onions balance everything out. It’s the kind of pizza that doesn’t feel heavy even when you eat three slices.

What Makes the Classic Combo Different

The Classic Combo goes deeper. Three meats (Pepperoni, Beef, Sausage), plus Black Olives, Mushrooms, and Onions. This is a richer, heartier pizza. The beef adds weight that you don’t get on the Humble Pie. The black olives and mushrooms are earthy in a way the green peppers on the Humble Pie aren’t.

If you want a pizza that feels like a full meal, this is it. It’s a loaded pie — not as loaded as the All-Meat Combo or Super Combo, but enough to satisfy a serious appetite. Classic Combo fans tend to be people who want every bite to count. This pizza doesn’t have a light bite in the whole pie.

It’s one of our most popular pies, and it’s a fixture on our top 5 list for a reason.

When to Pick the Humble Pie

  • You want Italian sausage over plain sausage
  • You like green peppers as a topping
  • You’re feeding someone who doesn’t want too much going on
  • You want a pizza that’s flavorful but not heavy
  • You’re pairing it with a lot of sides and don’t want the pizza to overwhelm everything

When to Pick the Classic Combo

  • You want three meats instead of two
  • You like mushrooms and black olives
  • You’re feeding people who want something hearty and filling
  • You want a pizza that stands on its own as the main event
  • It’s a game day, movie night, or big group — where you want a pizza that satisfies

Crust Recommendations for Each

Both pizzas work on any of our crust options, but here’s what we’d recommend:

Humble Pie on Original Crust. The lighter topping profile pairs well with the chewier Original. You get the texture without the crust competing with the toppings.

Classic Combo on Golden Crust. Golden gives you a buttery, slightly crunchy base that holds up under the heavier toppings. The three meats and the olives and mushrooms need a crust with a little more structure. Golden delivers that.

Thin crust works for either if you’re trying to cut carbs or want a crispier bite. Mini and small sizes on thin are a great way to sample both side by side.

What to Pair With Each Pizza

Both pizzas work with the same sides, but here’s how we’d pair them:

Humble Pie pairs well with Cheesesticks. The lighter pizza and the buttery cheesesticks balance each other out. Add a garden salad and you’ve got a complete dinner that doesn’t feel too heavy. Good for a weeknight order or a smaller group where people want to eat and not feel like they overdid it.

Classic Combo pairs well with Potato Wedges or Garlic Bread. The heartier pizza goes with hearty sides. Potato Wedges ($6.74) add some crunch and substance. Garlic Bread with Cheese ($7.79) is warm and rich — it fits the Classic Combo’s personality. This is the combo for a game night or a dinner where nobody’s counting calories.

Can’t Decide? Try Both

The Half & Half Specialty Pie ($21.99–$35.99 depending on size) lets you get one half Humble Pie and one half Classic Combo on the same pizza. That’s the move if you genuinely can’t pick — and it’s also a great way to settle an argument at the table without ordering two separate pies.

You can see both pizzas — plus all our other specialty options — on the full menu. And if you want to pair your pizza with the right sides, we’ve got a full sides breakdown to help.

Our honest take: Classic Combo is the better game day pizza. Humble Pie is the better date night or casual dinner pizza. If you’ve never had either, start with whichever matches how hungry you are right now.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between Humble Pie and Classic Combo?

Humble Pie has Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Green Peppers, and Onions. Classic Combo has Pepperoni, Beef, Sausage, Black Olives, Mushrooms, and Onions. Classic Combo is heavier and meatier. Humble Pie is a bit lighter and more herb-forward thanks to the Italian Sausage and green peppers.

Are Humble Pie and Classic Combo the same price?

Yes. Both are $13.99 for a mini up to $34.50 for a large. Same size options, same price range — the difference is purely in the toppings.

Can I get half Humble Pie and half Classic Combo?

Yes — order the Half & Half Specialty Pie and choose both. Available in small, medium, and large. It’s the best way to try both without committing to one full pizza.

Which crust is best for the Classic Combo?

We recommend Golden Crust for the Classic Combo. The heavier topping load — three meats plus olives and mushrooms — holds up better on Golden than Original or Thin. That said, any crust works. It’s your pizza.
