Why Pizza Night is the Ultimate Family Tradition

godfather pizza classic combo feast family dinner san antonio

Pizza night isn’t just dinner — it’s the one thing the whole family actually agrees on. No arguments about what to eat, no one picking at their food, no mess in the kitchen. Just a great pizza on the table and everyone happy. That’s why pizza night is a tradition worth keeping, and Godfather’s Pizza San Antonio makes it easy to pull off every single week. Indecisive? Our Half & Half pizza option lets two people get exactly what they want.

Why Every Family Needs a Pizza Night

There’s something about pizza night that hits different from every other dinner. It’s not just the food — it’s the ritual. You pick a night. Everyone knows it’s coming. The kids are excited before you even order. That’s rare.

The practical side matters too. No cooking. No pile of dishes afterward. You spend the time you would’ve spent in the kitchen actually sitting at the table with your family. For busy San Antonio families — especially anyone juggling school schedules, sports, or work at JBSA — that kind of simplicity is worth its weight in gold. spring break is one of the busiest times of year for pizza orders from families looking for easy meals.

Godfather’s has been part of San Antonio family nights since the ’80s. Back after 35 years, we’re still the pizza people grew up with. If your kids haven’t had it yet, they’re about to find out what all the fuss is about.

Veteran-Owned and San Antonio-local. We’re right here on 151, and we know what it means to feed a family. Whether it’s a Tuesday night or a Friday tradition, we’ve got you.

Building the Perfect Pizza Night Menu

A great pizza night starts with the right pizza. Here’s how to build a spread that works for everyone at the table.

Pick Your Crust

The crust sets the whole tone. Our crust options run from Original (thick, chewy, classic) to Golden (pan-baked, buttery, crispy bottom) to Thin (light and crispy, toppings forward). For family nights, Golden crust is the crowd-pleaser — that buttery, crispy base makes every pizza taste like a special occasion. Pizza is a great pick for Mother’s Day when you want something everyone enjoys.

If you’ve got a mix of preferences at the table, order two different crusts on two different pies. That’s what Feasts are built for.

Specialty Pizzas Worth Knowing

If you’re not sure what to order, start with our most popular pizzas. The Classic Combo — pepperoni, beef, sausage, black olives, mushrooms, and onions on Signature Sauce — is the one that makes repeat customers out of first-timers. The All-Meat Combo piles on ham, pepperoni, bacon, beef, Italian sausage, and sausage. Both start at $13.99 for a Mini and go up to $34.50 for a Large.

For something that always gets a reaction at the table, order the Taco Pie. It’s seasoned beef, taco sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and cheddar — the lettuce and tomatoes go on fresh after it comes out of the oven. It sounds different because it is different, and it works. Same price range, $13.99–$34.50 depending on size.

Want to let everyone pick? The Half & Half Specialty Pie puts two different specialty pizzas on one pie. Starting at $21.99 for a Small. That’s how you settle the Classic Combo vs. Hawaiian debate without ordering two full pizzas.

The Feasts — Built for Family Night

The easiest way to order for a family is to go straight to the Feasts. The Build Your Own Feast gives you a Specialty Pizza, a 1-Topping Pizza, and a side — $35.99 for mediums (feeds 4–6) or $45.99 for larges (feeds 5–7). The Pizza and Wing Feast swaps the side for a Full order of wings — $45.99 mediums, $55.99 larges.

For bigger families or if you’re feeding a crowd, the Pizza Pack is four pizzas — either four mediums for $60.00 (feeds 8–12) or four larges for $75.00 (feeds 12–16). That’s four 1-topping pizzas. You pick the toppings, we handle the rest.

Pizza Pack tip: Let each family member pick the topping on one of the four pizzas. Everyone gets their favorite, no compromises required.

Sides That Make It a Meal

A pizza night isn’t complete without the right sides. Our best sides include Individual Breadsticks ($6.99) with marinara, Cheesesticks ($7.79–$12.24), and Potato Wedges ($6.74). Bone-In or Boneless Wings run $16.49–$26.49 for a Half or Full order in naked, buffalo, or BBQ. Wings on family pizza night is never a bad call.

Desserts — Don’t Skip These

End the night right. The Cinnamon Monkey Bread ($7.79) is warm pull-apart bread with cinnamon sugar and an icing drizzle — it lasts about as long as it takes to set it on the table. The Big Chocolate Chip Cookie ($7.79) is fresh-baked and cuts into six servings. Either one turns a good pizza night into a great one.

Making It Fun

Pizza night is better when everyone’s involved. Here are a few ways to make it a real event.

Let the Kids Pick

Give each kid one vote on the order. Maybe they pick a topping, maybe they pick a specialty pizza. When they have a say in what gets ordered, they eat better and the whole night goes smoother. We’ve got something for kids and adults across the whole menu — there’s no wrong answer here.

Build a Pizza Bar

Order a plain Cheese Pizza or a 1-Topping Pizza alongside a specialty pie. Set out some dipping sauces ($0.99 each). Let the table customize from there. It’s a low-effort way to make dinner feel like an activity, especially for younger kids who like to have their own thing in front of them.

Make It a Movie Night

Pizza and a movie is one of the best combos going. Our movie night combo pairs pizza with wings for a full spread that carries through a two-hour movie without anyone getting up for snacks. Order a little early so the food is there before the opening credits.
