Godfather’s Pizza San Antonio: The Best Road Trip Stop

You’re on I-10 or 151 and everyone in the car is hungry. You’ve got options — but most of them are drive-throughs that’ll leave you regretful by the time you hit Kerrville. We’re right here on 151 at the SH 151 Access Road, and we’ve been feeding road trips, day trips, and cross-town hauls since we brought Godfather’s back to San Antonio.

Road trip food has a bad reputation for a reason. Gas station burritos, sad fast food, highway rest stop vending machines. But if your route takes you anywhere near the west side of San Antonio, you’re pulling off for real food. That’s what we’re here for.

We’re at 8530 SH 151 Access Rd — less than a mile off the highway, easy in and out, and the food is ready fast. Take a look at what makes us different if you’re new to Godfather’s. Short version: we’re not a chain branch you’ve seen a thousand times. We’re veteran-owned, San Antonio local, and the pizza is made fresh every day.

Why We’re the Perfect Road Trip Stop

Location first. We’re right off 151 — not buried in a shopping center, not requiring a seven-minute detour through residential streets. You can see the route, pull in, eat, and be back on the road without losing your momentum.

Speed matters on a road trip. Pizza doesn’t take forever when it’s ready to go. We also do carryout, which means you can call ahead, walk in, grab your order, and keep moving. Call (210) 750-2222 about 20–25 minutes before you need to arrive and your order will be waiting.

And pizza travels. Unlike a burger that gets soggy or tacos that fall apart in the back seat, pizza holds up. A box stays flat, it fits in a lap, and slices are easy to eat one-handed without incident. That matters when you’ve got three more hours of driving ahead.

What to Grab Before You Hit the Road

For the car, you want pizza that’s easy to eat and worth the stop. Our specialty pizzas run $13.99–$34.50 and are the main event. Check out the full menu before you pull in so you know what you want — or call ahead and have it ready.

Taco Pie. This is the road trip pizza. Taco sauce, beef, onions, tomatoes, cheddar and mozzarella, with fresh lettuce and tomato added after baking. It’s a full meal in a slice. If you’ve never had it, now’s the time. It’s been one of San Antonio’s best-kept secrets since we brought it back.

All-Meat Combo. Ham, pepperoni, bacon, beef, Italian sausage, sausage, mozzarella on Signature Sauce. This is the pizza that fills people up and keeps them quiet for the next 200 miles. Substantive, satisfying, worth every cent.

If you want options, our popular picks page has the rundown on which specialties earn repeat customers — useful if you’re feeding a car of people with different preferences and want to get it right the first time.

Road Trip Quick Order: Large specialty pizza ($13.99–$34.50) + Potato Wedges ($6.74) + wings (half, $16.49) + Cinnamon Monkey Bread ($7.79) — feeds 2–4, packs easy, survives the drive.

Sides That Travel Well

Wings are the best road trip side. Bone-in or boneless, $16.49 for a half order, three sauce choices: naked, buffalo, or BBQ. Boneless wins in the car — easier to eat, less mess, no bone disposal situation mid-drive. Throw in a couple extra dipping sauces ($0.99 each) and you’re covered.

Potato Wedges at $6.74 are seasoned and baked golden. They hold up better than fries and are easy to share from the box in the back seat. Breadsticks are another option at $6.99 — garlic, oregano, parmesan, romano, with marinara. Good if someone wants to dip.

For a full breakdown of what pairs best with what, our sides guide covers the whole lineup. And if you’re not sure which crust makes the most sense for an order you’re taking to go, the crust options page walks through Original vs. Golden — Golden holds up especially well when the pizza sits in a box for a bit.

Closest Pizza to SeaWorld and Six Flags

If the road trip includes SeaWorld San Antonio or Six Flags Fiesta Texas, we’re your post-park stop. Both parks are within a few miles of us on 151 — and by the time everyone is done walking the park all day, they’re going to want real food, not more overpriced theme park nachos.

We’re open Sunday–Thursday 11am–9pm and Friday–Saturday 11am–10pm. You can make it here after a full day at either park with time to eat without rushing. The Build Your Own Feast is the move for a hungry post-park crew — a Large Feast at $45.99 gets you a large specialty pizza, a large 1-topping pizza, and a side, and feeds 5–7 people.

For directions and contact info, head to our contact page. Or just call us — we’ll tell you exactly how to get here from wherever you are on 151.

Order Ahead for the Road

The best road trip food stop is the one where you don’t wait. Call (210) 750-2222 about 20–25 minutes before your arrival and tell us your order and your ETA. We’ll have it ready when you walk in. No sitting around, no watching the clock. Just walk in, grab the boxes, and get back on the road.

You can also order online at godfathers.orderexperience.net if you want to handle it from the passenger seat while someone else drives.
